STEPHEN Q. ZHOU, Ph.D.

Stephen Zhou (PhD in Chemistry, USC, 1989) started his career as a Research Scientist at Pharmacia & Upjohn (P&U) in 1990. As the first project of creating a novel silicone material for intraocular lens became successful, his team broadened to include Engineers, Quality, and Regulatory staff. Subsequently, Stephen was promoted to the Manager, then to Director Positions. After P&U’s Irvine facility was closed in 1998, Stephen spent ten years in a start-up company as a co-founder and Vice President of R&D. Since the acquisition of Aaren Scientific by Carl Zeiss Meditec in Jan 2014, Stephen has served as Vice President of R&D at Carl Zeiss, responsible for biomaterial development for ophthalmic devices.
The Presentation
Stephen is going to share his experience as an Executive in big international medical device companies and as an entrepreneur in start-up/mid- size medical device companies.
