Dr. Charlie Q. Yang is the founder of AFIEA, an independent global FinTech consultancy offering advanced technology and market research to top-3 consulting companies, big-4 accounting firms, and other large financial institutions. Before his retirement in 2019, He worked at Charles Schwab as a Vice President and Sr. Financial Consultant (16 years). He was a core contributor to the rapid growth of Schwab in financial innovations.

Dr. Yang's early research contributed to the first machine-learning Chinese medical diagnostics expert system in 1982. He was the only student invited to co-author the first hybrid AI architecture book in 1991. He published the revolutionary software-radio design concept in 1998, which became the foundation of 5G wireless. He co-invented the first mobile payment system in 2000. He is the recipient of the Schwab 2018 Innovation Challenge Competition champion coach award.

Dr. Yang holds M. A. Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Artificial Intelligence and Wireless Communications from the University of Victoria of Canada and a BSEE from the University of Science and Technology of China. He is the recipient of the prestigious 1993 Gold Medal of the Governor General of Canada.
